Alexandra Vergara, B.A.

Practicum Student Intern

Joining Summer 2026

Alexandra’s passion for working with children began back in college, and it’s truly been at the heart of her career ever since. She started as a preschool teacher and later spent 16 years as an elementary school teacher, where she had the privilege of supporting children both academically and emotionally. Over time, she saw just how much a child’s mental health impacts their confidence, relationships, and overall growth, which led her to transition into school counseling.

For the past two years, Alexandra has been working as a school counselor with students in grades K–8, which has allowed her to support both younger children and those navigating the more complex middle school years. She is currently completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and she’s excited to continue learning and growing so she can best support the children and families she works with.

Beginning May 25th, Alexandra will be completing her practicum internship here, under the clinical supervision of Andrea Vargas, LMHC, RPT-S™, QS. We are thrilled to welcome her to the practice!

Alexandra truly believes that “when children feel safe, understood, and supported, they can grow in incredible ways”.

On a personal note, Alexandra — or Lexi, as she's known to those close to her — is a proud wife and mom, and her family is everything to her. They love spending time together with their puppy, Mia. Lexi also enjoys traveling, learning about different cultures, and getting lost in a good book whenever she gets the chance
